Ramblings

I really have nothing to post about.  All of the good things I was going to post about aren't happening until tomorrow! We found a tv that we really like, on sale at Best Buy. We also found the tv stand that we like.  And yesterday, my parents told us that they are going to buy our washer and dryer for us! Woo hoo :) They also already had a model in mind, on sale at Best Buy.  So we are going tomorrow to purchase all of that! Hopefully the tv can be delivered pretty quickly! Oh and the washer/dryer set is frontloading..which I love.  We won't be getting the pedestals, however.

I had my first wedding nightmare the other night...woke up in a panic because in my dream, my dress wasn't right, my shoes weren't right, and my bridesmaids dresses weren't right.  So of course now I'm freaking out about things.

I went with my mom after work today to Yankee Candle to order votive candles for bridal shower gifts...they were on sale for $1.00 apiece! Pretty good deal if you ask me.  I bought a few extras for the house :)

I stayed at our house last night because Gary and I were up late, me doing work and him doing homework.  I woke up to the bright bright sunshine streaming through the window and the sounds of a roof being installed on a home two doors down from us.  Note to self: buy blinds this week!

Oh I forgot on my last post to write about the project that I did last weekend.  I finally put together our bench for the mudroom! It took me much longer than it should have....so many little screws and bolts and washers and other little things that I don't know what they're called.  Not to mention that I put one section on, took it off, put it on differently, took it off, then put it back on the first way again...each time costing me about 20 minutes.  But it looks really good! I haven't taken a picture of it yet actually in the mudroom, but here's a pic right after I finished putting it together in the kitchen.

I had also purchased the matching wall piece (more cubbies as well as coat hooks) but we are not sure if we are going to put it together...might just take it back.  But I love the bench and it's great for the mudroom!

Oh----geez I can't believe I forgot this one! So, anyone who knows me really well knows that I am truly arachnaphobic. I have panic attacks when spiders are around, and I have been known to refuse to use my car for weeks at a time after a spider sighting inside (even when I know the spider has been squashed).  Ok so I had myself pretty well convinced that my house was spider-proof.  I thought maybe if I just thought about it hard enough, I could will it to happen.  Nope. First spider sighting when I woke up yesterday morning! It was in the upstairs hallway and Gary had to be woken up to kill it immediately.  Now, I'm convincing myself that it came in with one of the boxes from storage. There is NO way that it found a way inside our house!

Ok India, I hope this is enough of a post for you :) I really have nothing else to talk about but I will let you know when I do!

  1. hahaha. I love reading your stories. I just wanted to let you know that I bought my mom a flat screen for christmas from Best Buy. They delivered it and the screen was cracked. We didnt know this till later in the night when we surprised my mom with a broken tv. haha. Anyways best buy never showed up for the first delivery. Then about 3 more to come pick up the broken tv. I think I made about 20 phone calls within 2-3 weeks. We ended up taking it back to them and they gave us a new one that we squeezed in the back of my car. Anyways, just make sure you check your tv before the delivery guys leave your house. haha.

  4. Is the bench from Kohls? If so, I've been debating on whether or not to get it. Serioulsy for months I've been going back and forth. I saw one I LOVE at Pier 1 but don't know if I want to spend $300 on a bench for the mudroom.
Congrats on your purchases for tomorrow. We just got a new TV and we're loving it.
Bad dreams aside, it will be so nice to focus on the wedding now that the house is taken care of.

  5. I also hate spiders and I also convinced myself our house was spider-free...that was until I saw a little one in the morning room today...yuck! My husband also sprayed the basement, but I too, had convinced myself the spiders had come from the boxes that were in our old garage for ten months...I sure hope so :-)

  6. There was an itty bitty spider crawling on me the other day as I sat on the couch. Ew! I also killed my first stink bug!

  7. Yes the bench is from Kohl's. I got it at the beginning of February, it was on sale for $89.99 (normally 159.99) and then I had a 30% off coupon at the time as well. KM I looked for sooo long for one, at Target, Ikea, Pottery Barn, etc and could not find one at a good price. Then one day I opened the Kohl's ads and saw this one...ran out that night to order it! It is really sturdy and well made. The cushion is a little bit harder than it looks like it would be...but for the price, I have no complaints about it!

  8. Not sure if you put your laundry room on the 2nd floor or not but just a heads up for you. I built a Sienna last year (closed in Nov) and also purchased a brand new front loading washer and dryer. Problem is,with the washer being on the second floor when it hits top speed in the spin cycle it shakes the house bad. We tried everything, washer is level, we put it up on vibration pads, nothing works. Only thing that helps is to run the washer near empty, and that only helps a little bit. Just something to think about.

  9. I guess we will have to see about the washer and dryer...we have LG frontloaders...i currently have second floor laundry with a top loader and the washer shakes on the spin cycle but that is normally an imbalance in the clothes...

  10. I have a front loader and hate it!! But it's a personal preference. You could love it! A lot of people do! Get those stands that go under it with the drawers for storage. It makes for great storage and lifts the height of the machines so you aren't bending over as bad!

    The bench is beautiful!

When is your wedding date? What are your colors? How are you decorating? I love weddings! *sighs dreamily*

  11. We do have 2nd floor laundry and that is something that I thought about as well..but how would the front-loaders cause more vibration than regular washers? I

  12. The spin cycle is a front loader is much faster then the spin cycle in a regular washer causing more vibration. Naturally because it is a front loader the clothes want to fall to the bottom of the drum and because there is no agitator to prevent this the washer becomes unbalanced a lot more easily.

  13. We ordered this bench as well after you posted about it but then wondered how it fits in the mud room? Isn't the little wall in the mud room only around 31 inches and the bench is 35? Would you mind posting a pic of where you placed it.We were hoping it fits in there cause the bench is such a good deal! Thanks!

  14. Just read this post for the first time. I'm afraid part of your wedding nightmare has come true :( but at least it's not your dress that's the problem
